Dress Code
On class days, all students are required to wear clothing that allow for them to move comfortably and closed toe shoes.
During internship, students must wear sports medicine or School of Health Professions t-shirt or collared shirt and either khaki shorts or loose fitting pants with tennis shoes for clinic days.
On event days, students will be required to wear the Sports Medicine collared shirt with khaki loose fitting pants and tennis shoes, colored denim will not be permitted.
Sports Medicine collared shirts will be available for purchase during the first week of school. Optional t-shirts and jackets will be available at that time as well. Student ID badge and Internship badge must be worn at all times.
Non-Paid Internship
The non-paid internship will be divided into two categories:
“Clinic days” will consist of participation in-clinic experience and rehabilitation of athletes between the hours of 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the assigned district field house.
“Event days” will consist of pre-game preparation, on-site duty, and post-game clinic on days of official, scheduled Dallas ISD sports competitions at the assigned district field house. These internships will begin at 5:30 pm and end when all post-game duties have been completed.
Students are expected to attend 1 event day internship of their choice in each of the sports available at their assigned field house or high school.
Students will receive a daily participation grade during the internship period. Due to the limited days of observation during the internship period, it is important for all students to attend internship on a daily basis. Students who do not attend internship, will be given a daily grade of a zero for non-attendance, except for extenuating circumstances.
